Overview

The Commissioner for Public Interest Disclosures conducts investigations in accordance with the Public Interest Disclosure Act (NT). An investigation occurs if the Commissioner receives information about improper conduct that may be occurring in a Northern Territory public body.

The Commissioner’s job is to:

  • find out whether the improper conduct is occurring;
  • recommend steps the public body should take to stop the improper conduct and prevent it from occurring in the future; and
  • alert the community if the public body fails to follow the recommendations.
